2026-9-30 Coki, sip and paint, bingo

 Decided to head back to Coki today.  Obviously, a cruise ship or 2 were in town.  The beach was hopping, but the water wasn't too busy.  Seems most people don't actually snorkel, they just play in the sandy area or sit on the beach.


But I went right back to the rocky area

It's great being able to get so up close and personal to the fish here.

saw a couple of these guys, too---moon jellies???  I don't think they sting, but I didn't want to find out so I gave them lots of space.  I've gotten stung by some jelly fish in the Caribbean once and it was miserable!

so I went a little overboard with the photography, but how can you not when the water is this clear!?




When I was ready to head back after a couple hours, I decided to walk back instead of take the shuttle.  It wasn't far.  The pinkish topped buildings on the other side of the beach are our resort

 My feet were suffering pretty much for the last few days.  The rubbing of the snorkel fins on the top of my toes and the wet sand being rubbed into the sides of my feet with my sandals on.  My pedicure wasn't doing too well, either.

I also had quite a bruise on my hip from getting out of the Jeep while the kids were here.

I sat at the pool and waited for the icecream and Bingo.
They also came around with free shots.  At first I turned it down, but she told me it was coconut rum, so I changed my mind.  It was pretty good!

Bingo time.  

They only had 2 winning bingo games.  I won the 2nd one.  It was a cute little assortment of stuff.  I ended up leaving the wine in the room since I didn't want it that night and couldn't take it on the plane.  I liked the shot glass and souvenir magnet.  Layla got a kick out of the other things.

Back at the room---time to finish up the assortment of left overs.  Then get some laundry done and stuff packed up.  

 It was another great day/

2026-9-22 travel day to St. Thomas

 Since we had a relatively early flight (9:57am), I spent the night at the kids' house so we could save about 40 minutes travel time bright and early.  It's about an hour to the airport from the kids' house, so figured that was long enough of a car ride to start our travel day.  But the drive went well.  Josh parked in an off site parking lot with free shuttle to the airport,  That went really well, too---the shuttle basically saw us parking and drove right over and picked us up.  Within minutes, we were being dropped off at the doors to the Delta counters,   Since the kids had a checked bag, we had to wait a few minutes to check in their bag.  I managed carry on---which we were able to gate check. The gate was full.  Plane was almost full.  But I actually had an open seat next to me.      Layla noticed a rainbow outside the gate windows.  Always reminds me of Mom wishing me good times.  Boarding was on time...

2026-10-1 time to go home

 Well, it was time to head home.  Had to check out by 10 and my flight wasn't until abut 2:30, so I had some time to kill.  Ended up going to the Margaritaville restaurant for breakfast. I have no complaints about the restaurant.  It's nicely decorated and the food has been very good.  I ended up getting an omelet with peppers, onions and cheese.  It was very good, but very large.  Too bad I didn't gt it a few days earlier.  Instead I had to throw half of it away.  about noon I told them I was ready for a taxi to the airport.  Fare for one to the airport is $34.  He did manage to find 4 people wanting to go to Megan's, so I got an extra ride.   They're in the process of building this at Megan's.  Restrooms?  Shop?  Whatever it is it's huge.  Bye Megan's.  I'm glad we made the decision to go there several days ago. views as he was continuing to the airport the marina in Charlotte Amalie   ...

2026-9-26 Mountain Top, Secret Beach, and Duffy's Love Shack

Today started out a little differently.  Instead of heading straight to snorkel, we headed to a huge gift shop at the top of a mountain---cleverly named---Mountain Top.  It was another interesting ride up to the top of the mountain.  But there were some areas where the views down were pretty neat.  We finally reached the top after about 30 minutes or so.  Angie dropped Layla and me off while she and Josh went to park. I took the oppurtunity to take some pictures of Layla with the resident pirates. It's also known as the home of the banana daiquiri.  It's also known as a huge tourist excursion for cruise passengers.  Good thing, there were no cruises in town today. Layla even found some kid pirates Views from the patio were really great, too.  This is the famous Megan's Beach Layla with her banana daiquiri (ok, not really, but they make a great banana smoothie, too!)
